Coach’s homecoming warning to red-hot Byrd focused on masks, not flasks

Head coach Mike Suggs stood before his happy bunch of Yellow Jackets following Thursday’s dominating performance against Parkway and threw a wet blanket on the party.
Actually, it was a mask.
“We have something special building here,” Suggs told his team after it moved to 4-0 with a 42-7 District 1-5A triumph at Lee Hedges Stadium. “We don’t want to ruin it because someone was stupid. Do the team thing.”
Suggs understands players and their fellow students are pumped for Byrd’s homecoming weekend, but even though he’s in his 23rd year as the program’s leader, Thursday provided something unprecedented.
