Attention Freshmen: Applications are now open for the Lyle Leader Program and will be accepted until Friday, January 23 at midnight. Applications can be obtained by scanning the QR code on flyers located in school hallways or by following the instructions in Canvas and on the Byrd app. The Lyle Leader Program was initiated and founded by Dr. Bobby Lyle, a graduate of C.E. Byrd and the namesake of the SMU Lyle School of Engineering. The program introduces students to leaders in the school and community and culminates in a community service project during junior and senior year. Throughout the four-year commitment, the program focuses on exposure, experience, engagement, and empowerment, providing students with the opportunity to learn about and become leaders in our community. The Jason Bland Power the Cure Foundation/Shelter Insurance Scholarship application is available in the Counseling Office or the Class of 2026 Canvas page. A $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a Caddo Parish student with the desire to further their education. Student/athletic trainers will receive top ranking for the scholarship. Students must have a 3.0 gpa. Deadline is April 1.
To help bring awareness to our community about women’s heart health, we are inviting all 2026 graduating seniors to participate in a contest to earn a scholarship up to $5,000! Apply at https://www.christushealth.org/, deadline to apply is January 30, 2026.
The Gayarre History Club will host our 14th annual conference on March 31, 2026. This year’s theme is TIPPING POINT. The club invites any student interested in researching, writing, and presenting a historical paper to an audience of their peers and area academics to submit a proposal of their research. Check out the flyers posted around campus or ask Mr. or Mrs. Lary (room 220 or S209) for details. Submissions and additional information can be found on GAYARRE.ORG. Deadline to submit is FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6.
The Science National Honor Society is accepting abstracts for the 7th annual Mendeleevian Society Symposium: Artificial Intelligence: Bridging the Gap Between Imagination and Reality.
