Community Service Diploma Endorsement
Students who have completed 80 hours of community service in grades 9-12 can receive a community service diploma endorsement. Seniors need to complete the student documentation form(s) and return to Mrs. Byrd in the counseling office by January 9. They must be signed by the person verifying the community service activity.
Student document forms can be found at https://doe.louisiana.gov/. Seniors can also check the Class of 2026 Canvas page for the form.
Lyle Leaders Updates: Applications for those upperclassmen who expressed interest in joining Lyle Leaders by attending the October meeting or emailing one of the sponsors are available on the Lyle Leaders Canvas page. Existing members should complete the recommitment form to confirm interest in continuing in the program; the recommitment form is also available on Canvas. Please make sure to have the appropriate form submitted by midnight on Sunday, November 30. Information for freshmen who would like to apply to the Lyle Leaders program will be available before Christmas Break. Questions? Reach out to Ms. Finch, Ms. Waters, or Mrs. Gardner.
Need help with math? Preparing for the ACT? Or maybe just need help finishing that homework assignment that is due? Science National Honor Society is offering free tutoring on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the library from 7:45-8:15. All you have to do is show up! there will be two people on hand that can help you with whatever you are working on. Please see Mrs. Comerford in 211 with any questions.
Attention 9th graders, Byrd 9th graders will have a private tour of Caddo Career & Technology Center on January 12th from 9-10 am. Pick up a permission slip in the counseling office. The permission slips are due December 15th.
The FALL test administration will be for all FALL EOC tested courses and retesters. All tests are tested over two days. Students should be present both days. Due to the short testing window, makeups will be VERY limited if at all. No cell phones in the testing rooms preferred. Security wands will be utilized in each in each testing room. The schedule is as follows:
English I and II – Dec 2 & 3
US History, Geometry and Alegebra 1 – Dec 4 & 5
Biology – Dec 8 & 9
Civics/ US Government – Dec 10 & 11
Girls soccer team is currently selling spirit wear for this years season. You can find our spirit wear on local level and the Byrd app.
Louisiana Tech Winter quarter applications are now available. Students in the following courses can sign up for dual enrollment:
English IV GT- Smith
English IV E- Williams
English III H- Waxham (only students who did not enroll in August)
US History AP- Rowe
Byrd will pay tuition for ALL dual enrollment courses this year. Students are responsible for $20 application fee made payable to Louisiana Tech. This only has to be paid once each school year. Students in English courses must also pay a $30 packet fee. This is also only paid once/school year. Instructions are available in the Counseling Office, Canvas, or classroom teachers. Students are encouraged to apply early. Please read all information carefully and complete all required steps. Deadline to apply and submit all documents/payments is November 5 at 4pm. Documents must be received in the Counseling Office by that
