Parents of graduating seniors:
- Please insure that your graduate arrives between 5:45 and 6 pm, dressed and ready.
- If it happens that you know they are leaving late, don’t give up. We will make every effort to get them in the proper place to receive their diploma. Please avoid this!
- Balloons, banners, signs, will not be allowed inside the stadium. These block the view of others.
- You will not be allowed to take pictures along the rails. Please stay seated.
- The weather for the night of graduation looks great. Rain on Tuesday into Wednesday then cooler and no rain for graduation on the night of the 26th at 7 pm.
- Students will have one program in their chair, they will be given four more at the time they pick up their diplomas after the program. Parents can open a QR code to view the program during the ceremony.
EOC Summer Remediation is from June 6th through June 17th. Retesting is June 20th through June 24th. All classes and retesting will take place at Caddo Magnet High School for Byrd students. Summer School for Credit Recovery will be in two sessions – each for a half credit. Students – The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) is working to improve access to postsecondary education and the financial assistance needed to complete college for all students. One part of these efforts is to better understand what students are planning after high school through focus groups. Please use the following links to provide feedback. Students – Are your drawers overflowing with old Byrd T-shirts? Well, we have a solution! Donate any gently used Byrd T-shirt for the 2nd Annual Byrd Vintage Shirt Sale! All students will have a chance to purchase these shirts during Celebrate the City. There is a collection box located in Mrs. Prothro’s office.

Student Opportunities:
Students – There will be a 5th Grade Class Reunion for graduating seniors and teachers at Eden Gardens Magnet TOMORROW from 4:00-5:00 pm. We will catch up with each other, watch our 5th-grade finale video, tour the school, and enjoy refreshments. We look forward to welcoming our eagles back to the nest- we sure hope you can join us!
Students – Shreve Island Senior Class of 2022 is hosting their annual Red, White, and Blue day where students can visit their old school and reunite with former classmates. Students should rsvp using this Google form: CLICK HERE for form.

Juniors and Seniors – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is welcoming high school juniors and seniors to be a part of #CAP. The organization seeks to demystify the College Admissions Process for students. Virtual instruction will provide a hands-on approach that includes all of the steps from researching various colleges to completing the application process. Sessions are held the 1st Monday of each month via Zoom. Areas of Emphasis include ACT/SAT, Essay writing, HBCU information, Scholarships, Life skills and more. Students– Manufacturing NWLA FAME apprenticeship Open House June 1. There will be an Open House for interested persons to come learn about the program and meet the employers participating. It is June 1 at BPCC, 2 sessions available (11-1 and 4-6). The application for the program is already live, and anyone that completes it will be invited to the open house. It lives at www.ApplyToFAME.com. They would select the Northwest Louisiana chapter.
Volunteer Opportunities:
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – You must provide your own transportation. You cannot miss any tests, class projects or EOC tests, and you must not be on the Debt List.

The Willis-Knighton Cancer Center is hosting a Cancer Survivor Carnival Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 2:00-4:00. I would like to see if the Astra Club would help us make this day special for our survivors. We need help with supplies and volunteers the day of the event to manage the games. Please let me know if the Astra Club will be available to help us celebrate our Cancer Survivors on June 5th. Please call or email Mrs. Stevens if you can volunteer.
