College Visit – An LSU representative will be here TODAY during both lunch shifts by the café.
Dual Enrollment – Students who completed dual enrollment applications for LSUS – you can begin making payments today. Tuition is paid online through www.lsus.edu/mylsus or in-person to the LSUS Cashier, located in the Administration Building on campus. Online payment requires a credit or debit card. The deadline to submit payments is 4:30 pm on Wednesday, September 8. Students are strongly encouraged to complete it this weekend so you can contact LSUS if you have any difficulty with the website. If Byrd was paying the tuition, students should still log in to make sure they do not have a payment due and notify your counselor if there are any discrepancies.

We’re looking for players who are: Competitive, Physical, Athletic, Coachable, Mentally and Physically Tough!! We have Varsity and JV teams with playing opportunities on both teams. The last year’s team made it all the way to the Final Four in the State Championship last year! No prior playing experience is necessary.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 33rd class in 2021, the Foundation has provided over 6,450 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $75 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. High school seniors, apply here! The application will be open until October 31, at 5:00 pm Eastern.

College Visits – La Tech September 24
PSAT – The PSAT will be given at Byrd on Tuesday, October 26. This is a College Board exam that gives 10th and 11th grade students an opportunity to check their progress towards college readiness. It also provides practice for the SAT. For 11th grade students, PSAT scores are used to screen for candidates for the National Merit Scholarship Program Competition. Participation in PSAT testing is voluntary. Students planning to test must register by paying the $17 test fee. The deadline to pay the fee is Monday, September 27th. Payment can be submitted online on PayForIt.net or to Marilyn Prothro in the counseling office. There is no makeup for this exam. The exam fee is non-refundable.

Seniors – Caddo Parish is hosting a College Career Fair at Centenary College on Thursday, October 21. College representatives from Louisiana and surrounding states will be in attendance. Please complete the google form found in your Canvas announcements. Once we know how many students are interested, we can request a time and send out permission slips. Transportation will be provided. This usually takes about one and a half hours during the school day.
Students – The Sigma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is preparing for our 2020-2021 Debutante season. The goal of our Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Program is to enhance personal, civic, and leadership development through educational workshops while promoting community service and scholarship. This program is open to young ladies, currently enrolled in high school, who are anticipating graduation May 2021, and are planning to enroll in a post-secondary educational institution. This distinctive program is an experience that will remain in the hearts and minds of each young lady, as it creates an avenue for involvement in an array of cultural, academic, and social activities.
