Seniors – Class of 2021

You must complete one of the following financial aid steps IN ORDER TO GRADUATE:

  • Complete the FAFSA (available at fafsa.gov) This is your TOPS application, as application for federal grants and student loans.
  • Complete the Louisiana TOPS form- if you are not completing the FAFSA (available at mylosfa.la.gov)
  • A parent or legal custodian, or a student legally emancipated or of the legal age of majority, may certify a waiver in writing to the LEA (See Mrs. Byrd for this form)
  • Only one step is required- you do not have to complete the FAFSA and the TOPS form. The FAFSA is also the TOPS application.

Senior Information

C. E. Byrd’s counselors have partnered with Career Compass of La to work one-on-one with our seniors to equip them with regionally-relevant workforce and post-secondary information. They offer assistance with college applications, FAFSA completion, Career Interest Inventories, and ACT/SAT sign-up, scholarship information, etc.  Please make sure your student completed the survey using the following link https://6aar0wva.paperform.co.

The Karsh STEM Scholars program is available to seniors interested in attending Howard University and majoring in STEM fields. You must have a 3.0/4.0 GPA, B average in college prep math and science courses, 26 ACT composite, and 25 math subscore. E-mail Mrs. Byrd at asbyrd@caddoschools.org if you would like to be nominated.

All seniors need to complete the Career Compass assignment on the Canvas Class of 2021 assignment page or by following this link: https://6aar0wva.paperform.co/There is a video introducing Career Compass and a short form to complete when you are finished. This should take less than 5 minutes.

The Louisiana Department of Education will award a community service endorsement for seniors who meet the following criteria:  9th – 10 hrs, 10th – 20 hrs, 11th – 25 hrs, and 12th – 25 hrs for an 80 hr total. Forms and information are available at https://www.louisianabelieves.com/courses/diploma-endorsements. Students must return the Student Documentation Form and District/School Tracking Form to the counseling office by January 14th to receive the endorsement. See Mrs. Byrd in the counseling office if you have any questions.
