Dual enrollment applications are now available for LaTech and LSUS Fall enrollment. Students in the following courses can apply at LaTech- AP US History, AP European History, English IV enriched Williams and Maranto only, and English IV GT. Students in the following courses can apply at LSUS- Advanced Math- Algood only, Pre-calculus Algood only, AP Calculus Algood only, AP Statistics, Medical Terminology, English IV enriched Carberry only, English IV AP. Byrd will pay for one core English, math, science, or social studies course per semester at either LSUS or LaTech, as long as funds are available. Students are encouraged to apply early. Instructions are available from these teachers, or at www.cebyrd.com. Please read all information carefully and complete all required steps. Deadline to apply is TODAY at 4pm. Ring Staff – Any junior interested in serving on Ring Staff should come by and sign the clipboard oustide of either Mrs. Bolton’s room, S213, or Mrs. Cole’s room, S210, by Friday. Ring staff will be selected by teacher recommendations after you sign up.
Stamp Collecting Club – Please stop at Room 204 to complete the Application and obtain your Club Card for our Stamp Collecting Club. We have no fee to join, and you do not have to be a stamp collector to join.
Students – The Homecoming T-Shirt design contest designs are due by TODAY. Please submit your design to byrdstudentcouncil@gmail.com. The theme is “Blast Away the Bucs”.
Students who wish to participate in the first blood drive of the year this Friday need to fill out the form using the QR code on the posters around school, or you can sign up with the LifeShare representative during lunch TODAY outside the cafeteria. Donors need to plan to give blood during a non-core class, and all donors will get Johnny’s pizza for lunch Friday! Sixteen-year-old donors need a permission slip, and those are outside of Mrs. Carberry’s room, Room 202. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Carberry.
Students – Anyone interested in joining Spanish Club should pick up an application outside of room 117 or S304.
Students – There will be an ACT Boot Camp on October 1st from 9:00 until 12:00. It will be held here in the Learning Center. To reserve your spot, please call Sherri Moss at 318-572-5507.
Students – Do you like to grow plants, or want to learn how? Do you want to have a positive impact on others? Then join Growing for Good. Come by room S-105 to learn more and to pick up an application.

Swim Team – Any student interested in joining the Byrd swim team, please see Mrs. Carberry in room 202 or email Coach Steve Carter at stephenrcarter@bellsouth.net. LHSAA forms and physicals need to be completed ASAP. The first meet against Magnet is September 6th at Town South Pool at 7:00 P.M.
Seniors– Welcome to senior year! I am so excited to begin working with you and helping you with applications. We are not able to send transcripts just yet. First, we are working to ensure all students have an accurate schedule for the first day of school. After that, I will have to go through all transcripts so the gpa and ranking information is accurate for college applications. I will send out instructions for sending transcripts as soon as they are available. -Amanda Byrd
Parents – Would you like for your student to have access to dental care provided at the school this year? If so complete the attached form or sign up online, and the school will notify the Miles for Smiles Program which is a Mobile Dental Care program that comes to the schools for free.
