Lake Lambert’s triple propels Byrd comeback in 8-7 win over Texas High

Shreveport, La. – Lake Lambert’s two-out, RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth inning helped propel the Byrd Yellow Jackets to an 8-7 comeback win over the Texas High Tigers here Thursday night.

Th Yellow Jackets trailed the Tigers 7-4 entering the bottom of the sixth. Byrd pounded out four hits in the inning, including Lambert’s big extra-base hit.

Hunter Koos, who came on in relief of starter Tyler Wooldridge, earned his first career win for the Jackets. The junior southpaw tossed two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Hayden Hoffpauir recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Byrd.

Byrd (2-0) returns to action on Friday against the Ruston Bearcats. The game is slated for 5 p.m. at The Hive.
