Monday, April 19, is Wear Blue Day to raise awareness of child abuse in Louisiana. This is hosted by the Louisiana Alliance of Children’s Advocacy Center (and their state-wide affiliates like the Gingerbread House).
Congratulations to Khiana Roraback, Emerson Roberts and Mia Levermann for being named to the Division 1 All State team.
Congratulations to the Byrd Tennis Team on the 12 – 6 win against Shreve on Wednesday! The team completed the season with a 7 and 2 overall record. They are off to Regionals in Ruston on Monday and Tuesday. Good luck Jackets!!

Juniors – Junior Ring Ceremony is just a few weeks away. Due to covid restrictions, there will be 2 ceremonies – One on Tuesday, May 18 and the other on Wed. May 19. Get together with your friends and decide which night you want to participate, then go to locallevelevents and sign up. There is a $10.00 participation fee which gets you 2 tickets for your guests. Sign-up is Thursday, April 1 – Friday, April 23.
Seniors – It’s time to start working on the senior slideshow! Please send up to three pictures that represent your high school career. Make sure pictures are clear and school-appropriate. No baby pictures! You may submit three pictures to byrdseniorclass@gmail.com before April 22nd.

Seniors – Caps and Gowns will be distributed in the auditorium during lunch shifts on April 27th & 28th. Students whose last names begin with the letters A-K will pick up on Tuesday, April 27, and last names L-Z will pick up on Wednesday, April 28.
Students – The Junior Class Officers are excepting donations of coloring books and crayons for the pediatric unit at Ochsner LSU Health. Donations may be dropped off in the main office. The last day to donate is Friday, April 30th.
Volleyball Tryouts – Freshmen tryouts will be May 12th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Upper Classmen tryouts will be May 13th and 14th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Seniors – Please begin submitting your college acceptance letters and scholarship offers to Mrs. Byrd in the Counseling Office. We are requesting you submit only the college acceptance letter for the school you plan to attend, but will accept all scholarship offers you have received, even if you do not plan to accept them. You can bring a copy, e-mail asbyrd@caddoschools.org, or submit through the google form on the Class of 2021 Canvas page.
Upcoming Deadlines:
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Louisiana/Michael J Penn memorial scholarship application is available. This one-time $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to attend a four-year college and major in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture. Application available at https://nwlahba.org/. Deadline to apply is Friday, April 30.
Volunteer Opportunities:
9th, 10th, and 11th Grade Astra Club – Two schools have offered us the opportunity to work at their field days. They are First Baptist and University. To work the First Baptist Field Day, you must have attended First Baptist. All students must have passing grades. Sign up with Mrs. Prothro or email her at MProthro@caddoschools.org. You must provide your own transportation.
