Congratulations – February 1^st – 5^th is National School Counseling Week.  Ms. Byrd, Ms. Eason, Ms. Lacy, and Ms. Orenbaun, we would like to thank you for your hard work and your dedication to the students at C. E. Byrd High School.  This week, we salute you.

Choir Fundraiser – The Choirs are selling gourmet popcorn from Sugarwalk Popcorn with a special Valentine’s Day Cupid’s Mix (strawberry/cheesecake)!  Help support our programs by buying some sweet popcorn for your favorite Valentine!  Orders must be placed by TODAY. Track & Field – Students interested in outdoor track and field please come by the front office (see Mrs. Hill) and get an eligibility packet.  Contact Coach Plaza (318-272-1671 jep1932@bellsouth.net) and make arrangements to attend the first official practice TODAY. Paperwork must be completed and turned in by TODAY.

Blood Drive – Student Council will be hosting a blood drive TOMORROW. in the Learning Center. Seniors, remember if you have donated six times, you may be eligible to be in a drawing for a $500 scholarship. Also, you will receive the donor cord. Because of COVID regulations, Jackets need to use the link to sign up for your donation time, or you can see Mrs. Carberry in room 202 during first hour and she can sign you up. Band Fundraiser – The Band will have a fundraiser at Newk’s Eatery on Youree Drive on Wednesday, February 10th from 5-8 p.m. Mention you’re with the Byrd Band and they will receive 15% of receipts collected. Thanks for supporting our amazing band!

Students – Be on the lookout for a link on Canvas to fill out the school survey for Matchomatics! This year, Student Council will be passing out your results FOR FREE! However, you can’t get your results if you don’t fill out the survey! Join in for this fun, free Valentine’s Day activity! Global announcement on Canvas coming soon!

On Track Test Prep is hosting a one day ACT Boot Camp for the March 9 ACT test on Saturday, March 6, from 8:00 am until noon.  Please contact: Sherri Moss at 572-5507 to register today! Limited space due to Covid.

Senior Graduation Information – Due to the many restrictions placed on visitors this year, ordering your graduation supplies are now being handled online or in person at Graduate Sales, 3524 Youree Drive, phone 318-865-0409.  Their online website is graduatesalesyouree.com and office hours are Monday – Friday 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Upcoming Deadlines:

The online application for the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is available starting on November 1^st at jackierobinson.org. Through the JRF application, more than 4,000 talented young minority high school students apply to become JRF Scholars and carry on the civic-minded legacy of the foundation’s namesake, Jackie Robinson. The deadline to submit the application for a JRF Scholarship is TODAY at 5 p.m. ET

Presidential Volunteer Service Award – Any student who has 100 or more volunteer service hours from March 1, 2020, to March 1, 2021, is eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.  The hours can be school-related, community activities, church activities, mission trips, etc.  Completed volunteer activity sheets must be submitted to Mrs. Prothro by Monday, March 1, 2021.  Please email Mrs. Prothro at mprothro@caddoschools.org with any questions.
