Juniors – The Coolidge Scholarship application is now available. The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2022 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (unfortunately current high school seniors are not eligible to apply). All applications must be completed online and submitted by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, TOMORROW. CLICK HERE or contact Mr. Rob Hammer at the Coolidge Foundation with any questions. Juniors – It’s not too late to order your class ring. You can order your ring online at www.balfour.com Ring order packets are available in room S-105 or the main office. Call or text Graduate Sales 318-549-0082 with any specific questions.
Senior Graduation Information – Due to the many restrictions placed on visitors this year, ordering your graduation supplies are now being handled online or in person at Graduate Sales, 3524 Youree Drive, phone 318-865-0409. Their online website is graduatesalesyouree.com and office hours are Monday – Friday 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
Yearbooks – January is the last month to purchase your 2021 Gusher yearbook. They can be purchased in room 115 or through Payforit for $65 or placed on layaway for $10. Don’t miss out!
Students – Entries for the Fighting Hate for Good Art and Poetry Contest are due to Mrs. Prothro by March 19th. See your English teacher for details.
Presidential Volunteer Service Award – Any student who has 100 or more volunteer service hours from March 1, 2020, to March 1, 2021, is eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. The hours can be school-related, community activities, church activities, mission trips, etc. Completed volunteer activity sheets must be submitted to Mrs. Prothro by Monday, March 1, 2021. Upcoming PSAT and ASVAB – Attached are the lists for those students who have signed up to take the PSAT test and/or ASVAB test in January. You will be receiving information about where to report on these dates from your 1st hour teachers. CLICK HERE for ASVAB list. CLICK HERE for PSAT list.

Track & Field – Students interested in outdoor track and field please come by the front office (see Mrs. Hill) and get an eligibility packet. Contact Coach Plaza (318-272-1671 jep1932@bellsouth.net) and make arrangements to attend the first official practice on Monday, February 1st. Paperwork must be completed and turned in by February 1st.
Track & Field Interest Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, at noon on the track bleachers here at Byrd. You must wear a mask and social distance.
Youth and Government – All members need to come by S306 and pick up your club T-shirt! Please get this taken care of as soon as possible.
Upcoming Deadlines:
The Catholic Youth Leadership scholarship application is available online at http://www.louisianakc.org/programs/cyla/. The CYLA will award a scholarship to one senior Catholic boy and one senior catholic girl that exemplify leadership and catholic values. The deadline to apply is January 25th.
The Thomas McElroy scholarship application is available at cfnla.org. Click on COMMUNITY then choose SCHOLARSHIPS. You will need to create an online account to complete the scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship awarded to one student who plans to major in Science or Engineering. Students must have 3.0/4.0 gpa and successfully complete Calculus and Physics while in high school. The deadline is January 31st.
