Congratulations to sophomore Caroline Carberry who was honored as an LHCSA All-Star by being invited to and swimming in the Girls’ 500 Y Freestyle representing the C.E. Byrd High School Yellow Jackets as a member of Team West in the East vs. West Louisiana High School Coaches’ Association All-Star Swim Meet on 12/5/2020 in Lutcher, LA. She finished 6th in her exhibition event.
Youth and Government – Please come by S306 and pick up your club t-shirt! Our next debate is TOMORROW at 7:45am in the AUDITORIUM! There is a limit of 50 people max so be there early!
9th Graders – If you are interested in applying to be a Lyle Leader, please complete the application, and return to Mrs. Prothro by Wednesday Lyle Leaders is an organization unique to Byrd that participates in leadership activities and service activities from 9th-12th grades. The organization was begun by one of our Hall of Fame Alumni Association members with a $100,000 donation to the school.

The 2021-2022 Kids’ Chance scholarship application is now open. The Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) Kids’ Chance Scholarship program provides scholarships to the children of Louisiana workers who have been killed or permanently and totally disabled in an accident compensable under a state or federal Workers’ Compensation Act or law. Apply online at https://webportalapp.com/sp/login/kidschance-lbf-2021. Basic Eligibility Requirements: 1. Must be a dependent of a worker killed or permanently and totally disabled in an accident compensable under a state or federal Worker’s Compensation Act or law; 2. Must be a Louisiana resident between the ages of 16 and 2, 3. Must maintain a “C” average or higher, 4. Must demonstrate substantial financial need, 5. Must be pursuing a primary college or university degree (bachelor’s or associate’s) or vocational education and training (certificate or license) from an accredited Louisiana (*) university, community, technical or vocational college, and/or state-approved proprietary school. *An exception may be made for attendance at an accredited out-of-state institution for extraordinary reasons. The deadline to apply is February 26th.
