PTSAByrdBlastByrd High School, PTSA Byrd Blast

Students – Key Club Applications are available outside of room S301.  Applications are due August 24.  Interviews are August 26, at 5 p.m. In the cafeteria.  Please see an officer or Ms. Hale if you have any questions.

 

There will be a Student Council meeting on September 2nd at 7:50 in the auditorium. Interested freshmen should attend. Freshmen applications are due September 4th. 

 

Come dance through the decades at Byrd’s back to school dance this Friday, August 21st from 7-10 in the Byrd Gym. Only Byrd students may attend. Purchase your ticket on Local Level Events before the dance! 9th grade dress in 50s attire, 10th grade dress in 60s attire, 11th grade dress in 90s attire, and 12th grade dress in 20s attire! It’s sure to be a fabulous time! 

 

All girls interested in trying out for girls soccer we will have a parent meeting at the end of back to school night in the auditorium. Tryouts are Wednesday September 8 and Thursday 9th at Byrd 6pm to 8pm. You must have a physical to tryout. We will provide a free physical September 3 immediately after school at 4:00 pm.

 

Are you interested in learning and playing Mahjong? Mahjong is FUN and BUILDS YOUR BRAIN! If so, please come by Rm 117 in the Main Building for a club application. There is no club fee and Ms. Hammit will teach you!

 

Jackets, do you love to read? Do you want to read more books? Maybe you should come to our Book Jackets Club! We will meet the first Tuesday of each month during each lunch shift. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 1st. Each student who comes will receive a free copy of one of the ten titles on the Louisiana Teen Readers’ Choice List for 26-27. We will have pizza as well. Everyone is encouraged to finish reading their book throughout September and return Tuesday, October 13th to share their thoughts and reviews of the book. Then, we’ll be able to switch books with one another and read a new one! Please sign up via the Sign Up Genius List. New and returning membership in Gayarre History Club for 2026-2027 is open through September 15! Visit www.gayarre.org/join or see the flyers around school to join. Yearly dues must be paid by September 30 on SchoolCash Online. Gayarre is an academic club that hosts an annual conference, work days in the Archive, movies, and trivia nights. Two-year members receive a graduation cord. See Mr. or Mrs. Lary for more information.

 

Love science?  Want to share your love of science with others and get a pretty graduation cord to go along with it.  Science National Honor Society is accepting applications for  the prestigious Science National Honor Society.  This organization provides science in-reach and out-reach and looks great on a resume.  Pick up an application outside of Room 211.  Applications are due to Mrs. Comerford by Friday August 28th.  See Mrs. Comerford in room 211 for more information.

 

Powerlifting meeting for all interested girls and boys August 31st at 6:00 pm in the learning center.

 

Beta Club Applications are now OPEN! New and returning Beta Club members can get this year’s application outside of Rms S112, 207 or the main office. C.E. Byrd’s National Beta club is an active Academic, Service and School Spirit organization. Get Aura…Join Beta! Applications are available outside the office or at the link HERE.

 

Louisiana Tech Dual Enrollment applications are now available for students currently enrolled in the following courses: AP US History with Mrs. Rowe, English III Honors with Mrs. Waxham, English IV Enriched with Ms. Williams, and English IV GT. Students taking these courses during the second semester will enroll at a later date.

Students can pick up application instructions from these teachers or in the Counseling Office. Students and parents must complete an online application at Louisiana Tech and submit the Course selection form and payment(s) to their counselor by 4pm on August 20.

Students should complete the online application as early as possible, because there can be a 24 hour delay before their parents/counselors will receive the follow up link. Students and parents should use separate e-mail addresses (not a mycaddoschools e-mail address)and double check these e-mail addresses.
