EOC Summer Remediation is from June 6th through June 17th.  Retesting is June 20th through June 24th.  All classes and retesting will take place at Caddo Magnet High School for Byrd students.  Please register at https://forms.gle/k8cFvE1dzsb3jEWR7  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Johnson in Room 107A or call her at 364-5462.  THIS IS A FREE, NO COST COURSE!

Summer School for Credit Recovery will be in two sessions – each for a half credit.  The first session is May 31st through June 17th (register link:  https://forms.gle/dphfsqBbD7Hg1Ueu9)  Second session is June 30th through July 21st (register link:  https://forms.gle/3FiUKC6MRXGnm5mh8) THIS IS A FREE, NO COST COURSE!

Students – Mr. Badgley said there will be no more checkouts after 3:30 p.m. for the rest of the school year.

Student Council membership for the 2022-2023 school year is posted outside of Mrs. Carberry’s room, room 202. Members MUST sign to verify membership and sign the Use of Club Fees forms in Mrs. Carberry’s room. Membership must be verified by TOMORROW.

Freshman Pep Squad Parents – If you would like to sell your daughter’s pep squad top and skirt, please email Mrs. Prothro at MProthro@caddoschools.org, and she will share your contact information with interested parents.

Astra Club – Voting for Astra Club officers will take place on May 16 – 20.

Seniors if you purchased your magnet stole, please remember to come by the Counseling Office during lunch to pick it up.

Students – The 2022 session of Louisiana Girls State will take place on June 19-25 at Northwestern State University. CLICK HERE for a flyer with all of our 2022 program’s information. If you are finishing the 11th grade and would like to attend you may sign up online. It’s a great experience. Boys and Girls State – Any 11th graders who are interested in attending Boys’ or Girls’ State, please see Mrs. Prothro ASAP.  The deadline is coming up.  This is a fantastic leadership opportunity that is recognized nationally.  See Mrs. Prothro for more information.

Students – Are your drawers overflowing with old Byrd T-shirts? Well, we have a solution! Donate any gently used Byrd T-shirt for the 2nd Annual Byrd Vintage Shirt Sale! All students will have a chance to purchase these shirts during Celebrate the City. There is a collection box located in Mrs. Prothro’s office.

Students – Temp IDs are being added to the debt list daily.  You may owe for a temp ID even if you have previously been cleared from the debt list.  See a bookkeep to pay for temp IDs.

Students – AP CAPSTONE Graduation Honor Cords are now available for purchase on Local Level Events (https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/20187) The AP Capstone Cord is for graduating seniors who have taken and completed BOTH AP Seminar AND AP Research. Cords will be given out at Senior Honors Assembly. 

Pep Squad fittings are coming up! You only need to attend one fitting. • Wednesday, June 8 12-1:30 in Learning Center. • Cost is $550 and will be on www.locallevel.com

Student Opportunities:

Students – There will be a 5th Grade Class Reunion for graduating seniors and teachers at Eden Gardens Magnet on Tuesday, May 24 from 4:00-5:00 pm. We will catch up with each other, watch our 5th-grade finale video, tour the school, and enjoy refreshments. We look forward to welcoming our eagles back to the nest- we sure hope you can join us!

StudentsShreve Island Senior Class of 2022 is hosting their annual Red, White, and Blue day where students can visit their old school and reunite with former classmates. Students should rsvp using this Google form: CLICK HERE for form.

Juniors and SeniorsAlpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is welcoming high school juniors and seniors to be a part of #CAP. The organization seeks to demystify the College Admissions Process for students. Virtual instruction will provide a hands-on approach that includes all of the steps from researching various colleges to completing the application process. Sessions are held the 1st Monday of each month via Zoom. Areas of Emphasis include ACT/SAT, Essay writing, HBCU information, Scholarships, Life skills and more. StudentsManufacturing NWLA FAME apprenticeship Open House June 1. There will be an Open House for interested persons to come learn about the program and meet the employers participating. It is June 1 at BPCC, 2 sessions available (11-1 and 4-6).  The application for the program is already live, and anyone that completes it will be invited to the open house.  It lives at www.ApplyToFAME.com.  They would select the Northwest Louisiana chapter.

 


Volunteer Opportunities:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – You must provide your own transportation.  You cannot miss any tests, class projects or EOC tests, and you must not be on the Debt List.

Volunteer OpportunityAnna Johnson is in need of volunteers for this year’s AJGA tournament at Querbes on Friday, June 3.  We are a 501c3 and I would love for one of our organizations to help out.   Her email is amjohnsonla@gmail.com.

  • The Willis-Knighton Cancer Center is hosting a Cancer Survivor Carnival Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 2:00-4:00. I would like to see if the Astra Club would help us make this day special for our survivors. We need help with supplies and volunteers the day of the event to manage the games. Please let me know if the Astra Club will be available to help us celebrate our Cancer Survivors on June 5th.   Please call or email Mrs. Stevens if you can volunteer.
