Lyle Leaders field trip scheduled for TOMORROW is CANCELLED due to lack of participation.

AP Exams will be given following the schedule created by College Board which is today through May 12.  A list of students scheduled to test with testing locations has been sent to teachers.  Most exams are at least 3 hours long and will begin at 8 am or 12 pm.  Additional time is needed for seating, providing instructions and for breaks.  Students should report to their testing location 15 minutes prior to the exam time – 7:45 AM for morning exams and 11:45 AM for afternoon exams.  Late arrivals will not be allowed to test.  Any student absent from an AP exam will be charged a $40 return test fee, per test.  Email Penny Eason, the AP Coordinator, if you have questions. 

Fresh Salads from the hydroponic lab are half off now – that’s right, only $2.00 until the lettuce is all gone!

Students – All yearbook layaways must be paid off by TOMORROW.  You may pay them in Room 115.

CARE will hold a fundraiser at Torchy’s TOMORROW from 5:00 until 8:00 pm.  All you have to do is mention you are there to support Byrd and our CARE group will receive the portion of your tab.  Please help support this giving group that we are just started at Byrd.

Student Council – Students interested in being a member of Student Council for the 2022-2023 school year, please fill out the Google form here https://forms.gle/y7SduE5MDXHpZpXf6 or scan a QR code from around the school. The deadline is TOMORROW – no exceptions!

Students – Mr. Badgley said there will be no more checkouts after 3:30 p.m. for the rest of the school year.

 


MORE INFORMATION

Lady Jacket Volleyball tryouts will be held Thursday, May 12th (5:00-7:30pm) and Friday, May 13th (5:00-7:00pm) in the Main Gym. You must have an up-to-date physical to try out, you can sign up using the QR codes around the school. If you have any questions you can stop by Ms. Saulsbury’s room 115.

Astra Club – Voting for Astra Club officers will take place on May 16 – 20.

Boys and Girls State – Any 11th graders who are interested in attending Boys’ or Girls’ State, please see Mrs. Prothro ASAP.  The deadline is coming up.  This is a fantastic leadership opportunity that is recognized nationally.  See Mrs. Prothro for more information.

Students – Are your drawers overflowing with old Byrd T-shirts? Well, we have a solution! Donate any gently used Byrd T-shirt for the 2nd Annual Byrd Vintage Shirt Sale! All students will have a chance to purchase these shirts during Celebrate the City. There is a collection box located in Mrs. Prothro’s office.

Students – Temp IDs are being added to the debt list daily.  You may owe for a temp ID even if you have previously been cleared from the debt list.  See a bookkeep to pay for temp IDs.

Students – AP CAPSTONE Graduation Honor Cords are now available for purchase on Local Level Events (https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/20187) The AP Capstone Cord is for graduating seniors who have taken and completed BOTH AP Seminar AND AP Research. Cords will be given out at Senior Honors Assembly. 

Pep Squad fittings are coming up! You only need to attend one fitting. • Thursday, May 19 from 5-6:30 in Learning Center. • Wednesday, June 8 12-1:30 in Learning Center. • Cost is $550 and will be on www.locallevel.com

Student Opportunities:

Fairfield Elementary Magnet Alumni Senior Class of 2022 – There will be a 5th-grade class reunion for students and teachers on Fairfield Magnet school grounds on FRIDAY from 3:30-5:30 pm.  We will celebrate with pizza and cupcakes. Then we will reminisce by looking through old yearbooks and by watching our 5th grade DVD @ 5:00.  We know this is an extremely busy time of year, but we hope everyone can make it for a few moments of fun!

Students – Calling the Class of ‘22 Southfield School Alumni! You are invited back to Southfield School for our annual Final Flag and Alumni Breakfast on Thursday, May 19 at 8:15am. Students – There will be a 5th Grade Class Reunion for graduating seniors and teachers at Eden Gardens Magnet on Tuesday, May 24 from 4:00-5:00 pm. We will catch up with each other, watch our 5th-grade finale video, tour the school, and enjoy refreshments. We look forward to welcoming our eagles back to the nest- we sure hope you can join us!

Volunteer Opportunities:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – You must provide your own transportation.  You cannot miss any tests, class projects or EOC tests, and you must not be on the Debt List

  • St. Marks Alumni – Sign up online if you attended St. Marks and would like to work at their field day.  You must also let Mrs. Prothro know.

Judson Field Day Workers, Shreve Island Field Day Workers, and First Baptist Field Day Workers – All students who signed up to attend a field day on Friday, 5-6-22, must have a signed permission slip.  These permission slips will be delivered to your 1st hour class on Tuesday morning, and they must be returned to Mrs. Prothro by Wednesday morning, or you will be taken off of the list.  Thanks.
