Students – AP CAPSTONE Graduation Honor Cords are now available for purchase on Local Level Events (https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/20187) The AP Capstone Cord is for graduating seniors who have taken and completed BOTH AP Seminar AND AP Research. Cords will be given out at Senior Honors Assembly.

JV Cheer clinic has been postponed until April 19 and 20 with tryouts on April 21.

Youth and Government – Our last debate of the school year is Wednesday, April, 20, at 7 :40 AM in the Learning Center. Be there! Also, come pick up an officer intent to run form from S306. We are looking for great leadership for next year!

Students – If you are interested in joining High Life, please come to room S301 to pick up an application.

Prom Contracts are available outside the main office.  Remember they must be completed and signed by your parent before being brought to the bookkeepers office.  Once the bookkeepers verify you are not on the debt list they will sign your contract and enter your information on the computer so you are able to purchase tickets. Prom will be held on April 23 so get your contract today!

Seniors – Please submit up to THREE pictures for the Senior Slideshow on the last day of school. The deadline for picture submission is April 26. Send your pictures together in one email to byrdseniorclass@gmail.com. Pictures are best when they are high school pictures – 9th through 12th grade – and when they are group pictures. Please DO NOT submit baby pictures! Pictures should be school appropriate, or they will not be in the slideshow.

Juniors – The Junior Ring Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 17.  If you would like to participate, you must sign up on local level events by Friday, April 29.

Presidential Volunteer Service Award Recipients – There will be a luncheon in your honor on Friday, April 29, at 12:00 p.m. in the Learning Center.  Your first-hour teacher will have a form for you to complete, and return to Mrs. Prothro.

Seniors – Did you attend University Elementary?  If so, please see Mrs. Prothro.  They have asked you to come to their 5th-grade celebration on April 22.  You will be excused from school.

Fairfield Elementary Magnet Alumni Senior Class of 2022 – There will be a 5th-grade class reunion for students and teachers on Fairfield Magnet school grounds on Friday, May 6 from 3:30-5:30 pm.  We will celebrate with pizza and cupcakes. Then we will reminisce by looking through old yearbooks and by watching our 5th grade DVD @ 5:00.  We know this is an extremely busy time of year, but we hope everyone can make it for a few moments of fun!

Students – There will be a 5th Grade Class Reunion for graduating seniors and teachers at Eden Gardens Magnet on Tuesday, May 24 from 4:00-5:00 pm. We will catch up with each other, watch our 5th-grade finale video, tour the school, and enjoy refreshments. We look forward to welcoming our eagles back to the nest- we sure hope you can join us!

BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ STATE – Any 11th graders who are interested in attending Boys’ or Girls’ State, please see Mrs. Prothro ASAP.  The deadline is coming up.  This is a fantastic leadership opportunity that is recognized nationally.  See Mrs. Prothro for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – You must provide your own transportation.  You cannot miss any tests, class projects or EOC tests, and you must not be on the Debt List

  • Students 9th – 12th  Grades – Southfield Field Day – If you attended Southfield, and you are interested in volunteering on April 29, please see Mrs. Prothro ASAP

Girl Up – We need all members of Girl Up to bring a donation of one package of diapers or one package of feminine products to the girls locker room. We will be conducting a drive for the local Women’s organization Bare Necessities.  Each Box or package will count 1 service hour. You need to turn in donations to Mrs Levermann in the girls’ locker room or if you turn into the 3rd floor science building area you must notify Gracie or Diamond on the Girl up remind so we can keep up with service hours. You can pick up your service hour sheets in the girls’ locker room. Donations due TODAY.

Z-Club is collecting items to benefit Project Celebration’s shelter for women and children. Please drop off items in S206 or S111. Items needed: activities for adult women while in shelter (like coloring books, colored pencils, workbooks, journals, playing cards, etc.), enrichment/sensory items or toys for children, pillows for beds, small trash cans for bathrooms, wall plug in air fresheners , -razors for shaving, -craft supplies/hobby supplies and storage for these items, -gift cards for Walmart or other stores, queen sized sheets and comforters  ($5 = 1 hour, 5 hours max).
