NEW TODAY

9th Graders – If you are interested in applying to be a Lyle Leader, please complete the application, and return to Mrs. Prothro by December 16th.  Lyle Leaders is an organization unique to Byrd that participates in leadership activities and service activities from 9th-12th grades.  The organization was begun by one of our Hall of Fame Alumni Association members with a $100,000 donation to the school.

Art Club – Applications are ready for pick up right outside Mrs. Cox’s room B7 in the basement. You don’t have to be an art student, all Jackets are welcome! The deadline to join the Art Club is December 14th.

Football Playoffs – Tickets are available at https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/11115.  Tickets are $10.00 and we will be playing St. Augustine tomorrow night at Lee Hedges and game time is 6:00 pm.

Juniors and Seniors – If you are interested in taking the ASVAB test on January 21st, please let Mrs. Prothro know by December 8th.

Student Council is hosting a Canned Food Drive in support of the NW LA Food Bank. For every ten cans, students can earn one hour of community service. The top three homerooms will earn prizes, too! The drive ends December 11th.

Students – Basketball season is upon us!  All tickets will have to be purchased online at https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/12284.  We’ll see you there!

Students – The PSAT will be given again at Byrd on Tuesday, January 26th.  This is a College Board exam that gives 10th and 11th grade students an opportunity to check their progress towards college readiness.  It also provides practice for the SAT.  For 11th grade students, PSAT scores are used to screen for candidates for the National Merit Scholarship Program Competition.  Participation in PSAT testing is voluntary.  Students planning to test must register by paying the $17 test fee and the deadline is Friday.  You may pay online at PayForIt.net or to the bookkeeper in the office.  If you took this test in October, you cannot take it in January.   Mrs. Prothro will take up that money later.  The exam fee is non-refundable.  Call Mrs. Prothro at 364-5455 if you have any questions.

Students who wish to join the 2020-2021 CE Byrd Boys and Girls Track teams or Cross Country teams, please contact Coach Plaza at jep1932@icloud.com or 318-272-1671.

Students – Any student who has 100 or more volunteer service hours from March 1, 2020, to March 1, 2021, is eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.  The hours can be school-related, community activities, church activities, mission trips, etc.  Completed volunteer activity sheets must be submitted to Mrs. Prothro by Monday, March 1, 2021.  Please email Mrs. Prothro at mprothro@caddoschools.org with any questions.
