Byrd got three second-half rushing touchdowns, including two by quarterback Lake Lambert, to get past Natchitoches Central 20-0 Friday night at NSU’s Turpin Stadium.

After Venzell Thompson scored the first Jacket touchdown on a 7-yard run in the third quarter, Lambert scored from 33 yards and 1 yard away in the fourth quarter to keep Byrd undefeated at 3-0 and 2-0 in District 1-5A play.

Byrd rushed for 257 yards on the night with Thompson leading the way with 105 yards.

It was five years to the day since Byrd posted its last road shutout, which was a 21-0 blanking of Southwood on Oct. 16, 2015.
