A Letter from Mr. Badgley

ByrdCreativeAcademics

Families,
This is Jerry Badgley, Principal at Byrd High School. I know there have been many questions about opening schools. Please know Caddo and Byrd High School have a plan that includes delaying the start of the school year until August 24th . Safety has been our school’s top priority and we are excited to welcome students back while following guidance from medical professionals.

In welcoming back our students, two options will be available, hybrid and virtual. In the hybrid model, students with last names beginning with A through K will attend school in-person on Mondays and Wednesdays with virtual instruction offered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. For students whose last name begins with L through Z, in person instruction will be offered Tuesday and Thursdays with virtual instruction available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Social distancing, use of masks and hand hygiene will be practiced to protect students and staff.

Families also have the option for students to attend virtually with students learning from teachers right here at Byrd High School. Students will receive the same level of instruction as those in person while learning from home using Caddo’s new, user-friend online platform. A survey will be sent out for you to select the learning model best for your child. Please respond by August 1st.
Additional Information:
•Allows for students to receive face-to-face instruction in a safe setting
•Technology will be provided for any families as needed to participate in virtual classes
•Whether in person or virtual, students will be taught by their teachers throughout the week
•Students and families will receive training and supports on how to use the district’s new virtual platform, Canvas
•Students are able to learn in smaller groups to allow for better understanding of content
•Transportation will be provided for all eligible students
•Social distancing will be followed to the maximum extent possible
•Students will continue to participate in activities such PE, orchestra and other extracurriculars (as available at your campus)
•Grab-and-go meals provided for days when students are not at the campus

Thank you for being a part of the Byrd family. We look forward to safely providing your child the highest quality education.
