This past week Byrd celebrated the induction of 40 young men and women into the Science National Honor Society (SNHS). Byrd is one of only a few schools in Northwest Louisiana that has a SNHS chapter. This honor is awarded to only a select few juniors and seniors who meet a high standard in the fields of math and science. Students receiving this award represent Byrd throughout the year by sharing their love for science in area elementary STEM nights, peer mentoring, and community involvement. We are so excited to announce that our Teacher of the Year is Monica Speyrer! For the past 16 years at β€œThe City,” Mrs. Speyrer has inpired thousands of Yellow Jacket students to love learning, especially when it comes to geography and government.
